Text Entry Modes

To enter text information quickly, the microbrowser has several different text entry modes. When a text mode is selected, it determines the type of information you enter.

Mode Soft Key Symbol Purpose
Alphabetic characters - Lower case ABC (press and hold the "0 - up arrow" key in alpha mode) Enter text in lowercase. To enter the word "apple" type: 27755533
Alphabetic characters - First letter of a word in upper case +ALPHA (press the the "0 - up arrow" key for each letter input in uppercase Enter the first letter in uppercase. To enter the word "Apple" type: 27755533
Numeric characters NUM Enter numbers.
Symbols 1 SYM Enter symbols - Find the desired symbol and select and then Insert.
Smart Mode - iTAP iTAP

This mode is intended to speed-up text entry. The client should enter text characters in order, but click the appropriate key only once per letter. For example, the word "apple" would be entered by pressing 27753 (that is, only one keypress per letter of the word).

Each additional text character added will narrow the list of possible words, and it displays the most likely selection. In order to choose the next possible word, press "Next 0" key

Resetting the cache

Cache files are designed to help load Web pages quicker. Each time you open a Web page, your microbrowser creates a cache file (a temporary copy) of the page's text and graphics.

It is good to periodically reset your cache so that the links and pages you see will always be the latest version. Resetting the cache can also help if you are experiencing a problem with a page you can normally view.

To reset your cache:

  1. Launch your microbrowser.
  2. Press the MENU key.
  3. Choose "Clear Memory"
  4. Choose "Pick" "Cache" and "Select" "Clear".

The microbrowser must be connected for this to work.
